Erosion Control & Mitigation
July 10, 2026
8am-4pm
Are you interested in learning more about soil erosion and how to mitigate it on the land? Join us for an all-day workshop at Arroyo Runs Through It, a micro-farm in the east mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. You will learn how to identify types of erosion, read the landscape to assess where the origin of erosion problems might be occurring, and how to easily build affordable structures that help control eroding water flow and increase water infiltration.
Aaron Kauffman from Southwest Urban Hydrology will share a quick presentation, and then we’ll start the hands-on work – come ready to spend the day outside moving rocks! Lunch will be provided.

Stew Hen Processing
In March 2025 we hosted a stew hen processing workshop for women/femme/nonbinary folks. Students learned how to humanely process and clean a bird and were able to bring it home with them.
Build a Cob Oven
In July 2024, we hosted a workshop focused on crafting a cob oven, where participants engaged with hands-on techniques to utilize recycled materials and the rich earth found under their feet. This immersive experience empowered attendees to create functional outdoor ovens and fostered a deeper appreciation for natural building practices and community collaboration.
