Building Fertile Ground
Sunday, October 26th, 2025
Join Jess Soza and Nina Listro for a full day of learning, connection, and hands-on practice at Arroyo Runs Through It in San Pedro, NM. Together, we’ll explore how to build healthy, living soil using simple, low-input methods that work in concert with nature.
Throughout the day, participants will learn the foundations of soil health, experiment with using tools to work along a contour, and collaborate to build a hugelkultur—a fun and effective way to turn organic materials into rich, water-holding soil.
We’ll start the morning with an interactive discussion on soil and permaculture principles, enjoy a provided lunch, and spend the afternoon digging in and putting ideas into practice. Come ready to learn, share, and get your hands in the dirt!

Past Events
Stew Hen Processing
In March 2025 we hosted a stew hen processing workshop for women/femme/nonbinary folks. Students learned how to humanely process and clean a bird and were able to bring it home with them.
Build a Cob Oven
In July 2024, we hosted a workshop focused on crafting a cob oven, where participants engaged with hands-on techniques to utilize recycled materials and the rich earth found under their feet. This immersive experience empowered attendees to create functional outdoor ovens and fostered a deeper appreciation for natural building practices and community collaboration.
